Nostalgia
I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about how he never knows the words to songs now and I mentioned that I missed the days where you went to the store and bought a CD and laid on the floor and pored through the liner notes while the CD was playing in your obnoxiously loud stereo system. You’d get annoyed when your family came in and interrupted your listening session. Sometimes your friends would come over on CD release day and you’d all lie around the same CD booklet trying to make sure everyone could see.
I worry about kids and the types of nostalgia they’ll have. They won’t have boxes filled with pictures and handwritten letters from friends. They’ll have an email inbox and a Facebook album. They won’t stumble upon things when they’re moving out for the first time and become wrapped up in old memories. I’m sure our parents felt the same about us, but I guess we’ll see.
